Classic Moong Dal Khichdi

This traditional savoury khichdi is the ultimate comfort food even when we are feeling off or tired.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • ½ cup moong dal
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves
  • 2-inch piece cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 cups water

Method

  1. Wash the rice and dal and drain.
  2. Heat the oil in a cooker and add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and turmeric.
  3. Add the rice and dal and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add the water and cook in the cooker for 4 whistles.
  5. Enjoy with papad and pickle.
