Generation Vegan is a non-profit dedicated to educating people about the environmental, ethical, personal, and public health benefits of adopting a plant-based lifestyle.
We provide free nutritional guidance and support for people who are new to veganism, including our unique and inspirational 7-day and 30-day vegan challenges. We provide free plant-based meals to essential workers and underserved communities in over 20 countries, while our million-dollar challenges make headlines all over the world.
We launched in 2019 as Million Dollar Vegan, a flash campaign that challenged Pope Francis to go vegan for Lent in return for a $1M donation to charity. The Fight Climate Change With Diet Change campaign, which was supported by Sir Paul McCartney and many other well-known names, made headlines all around the world, and linked dietary choice to the many serious environmental crises we face.
In January 2020, we launched our second challenge and offered the President of the United States a million-dollar donation to veterans’ charities if he went vegan for January. Tens of thousands of people were empowered by the Make America Healthy Again campaign and downloaded our Vegan Starter Kit.
Then came the coronavirus pandemic, which changed everything, including us. We launched a global food solidarity campaign to Take Pandemics Off The Menu and help those most impacted by the virus and, over the next two years, we donated a million meals. We focused on working with other social justice campaigners and movements, and together we shared more widely the many positive reasons for adopting a plant-based diet. In August 2022, we officially rebranded in recognition of the multiple different strands of our work, and our renewed commitment to a more intersectional approach. We became Generation Vegan and the rest is history.
We embrace differences within the vegan movement and work alongside other social justice advocates. Our belief in equality means that respect for all human and non-human diversity is fundamental. As a global community with natives of different cultures, nations, and languages, we are committed to inclusivity.
In a world where violence and oppression are systemic, we are here to show that respect, integrity, and harmony are disruptive. Innovation and creativity are the tools we use to bring light to the many injustices caused—and deliberately hidden—by animal-exploiting industries.
Veganism is our vision of a just world where respect can unite every sentient being and disrupt any form of oppression. Our purpose is to become the generation that brings veganism for all. We are creating a vegan world.
