2025 Nominations Open!

Nominate A Vegan Hero For The 2025 Awards

We need your help to identify even more planet-friendly vegan initiatives from around the world for the 2025 awards, and we are inviting YOU to put forward your own favorite groups, companies, and campaigns for consideration.

All nominees must:

  • Promote or advance a plant-based food system.
  • Be measurably impactful and scalable.
  • Drive meaningful change, through education, diet change, policy change, etc.
  • Help to protect and restore nature (land, forests, rivers, oceans, wildlife).
  • Be inclusive, equitable, and beneficial to human and nonhuman animals.

Generation Vegan And The Earthshot Prize

The Earthshot Prize is a high-profile global search for the best solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges. Each year, it awards £1 million to each of five outstanding initiatives working to preserve our planet for future generations.

In 2024, Generation Vegan (GenV) challenged The Earthshot Prize to prioritize plant-based solutions as the best way to tackle the greatest environmental crises we face. Our call was backed by stars including Olivia Colman, Emma Thompson, Sharon Osbourne, Alicia Silverstone, Mark Rylance, and Annie Lennox.

As a result, GenV was not only invited to become an official nominator to the awards, but we were also invited to select two experts to join Earthshot’s Expert Advisory Panel for the Protect and Restore Nature category. This is the category with which Earthshot believes our work most strongly aligns although, of course, a plant-based diet is profoundly protective of our air, waters, and climate, too.

We elected Oxford University’s researcher Dr. Joseph Poore and Our World in Data scientist Dr. Hannah Ritchie to join the panel. Their job is to assess the nominations and ultimately help choose the 15 finalists.

We must change our diet. The planet can’t support billions of meat-eaters.
