Veganism Is Nutritious

VEGANISM IS NUTRITIOUS

Today, on day eight of our food solidarity initiative, we are in the UAE where Kinshu Arora, our friend and partner, reports there is little awareness of the impact of our food choices on the planet. Alongside this, there is still a stigma around plant-based diets, which we are working to dispel, and today we’ll be taking our awareness campaign – and some delicious food – to healthcare workers in Dubai.

Vegan For Health

Plant-based foods are full of fiber, rich in vitamins and minerals, free of cholesterol, and low in calories and saturated fat. Eating a variety of these foods provides all the protein, calcium, iron and other essential nutrients our bodies need. We don’t need animal products to be healthy!

Conversely, research shows that eating animal products is associated with an increased risk in heart disease, type two diabetes, some cancers and earlier mortality. Today, we will be joined by a plant-based health professional who will share some insight as to how to incorporate plant-based meals into our lives.

Healthy is Also Tasty!

We know vegan food has to taste good as well as do good, and so we have teamed up with Yumi, a fully plant-based kitchen, that is on a mission to empower the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) to make more conscious health and environmental food decisions.

Yumi has created 100 vegan meals – Jack Stroganoff, made with jackfruit, wild mushrooms, glazed red pepper, and smoked almonds, served with cinnamon cauliflower rice, all packed in eco-friendly containers.

Today’s focus is on helping people to understand the concept of veganism and its health benefits, while showcasing some delicious and nutritious plant-based foods.
