BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Sandwich

The tangy, spicy jackfruit alongside the crispy crunch of the coleslaw is such a winning combination. This is our go-to recipe when we need something fast, feel-good, and filling.


To make the burgers:

  • 14oz can jackfruit in water
  • 3 tsp BBQ seasoning
  • 2 tbsp oil, divided
  • A good squeeze of vegan barbecue sauce
  • 2 burger buns

To make the slaw:

  • 1.5 oz green cabbage, shredded
  • 1.5 oz red cabbage, shredded
  • 1.5 oz carrots, peeled and shredded
  • 1 tbsp chopped dill pickles
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegan mayo


  1. Drain and rinse the canned jackfruit. Cut out the fruit’s tough core and shred the rest with your fingers.
  2. Mix the jackfruit with the BBQ seasoning and 1 tbsp of the oil, then set it aside for 30 minutes.
  3. While it is soaking up the flavors, make the slaw by combining all the ingredients in a bowl.
  4. Heat a skillet and cook the jackfruit in the remaining oil over a medium heat, stirring, for about 5 minutes
  5. Add the BBQ sauce and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Keep stirring.
  6. Load the delicious spicy jackfruit into the bun and top it with the slaw.
