Meet the Factory Farm Survivors

The industrial farming system makes victims of billions of animals every year, but a few lucky souls make it out alive. And they remind us just how amazing, beautiful, engaging, and joyful animals are when they get the chance to live.

Harold Loves to Dance

Harold was destined to be slaughtered for someone’s Christmas meal. They would never have known what a huge character he is, or that he loves to meet and greet visitors, has a penchant for cuddles, and is a pop music superfan. In fact, whenever Harold hears his favorite singers—Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Britney Spears—his beautiful red throat and head turn a gentle blue, just as octopuses change color with their emotions. It shows how happy he is simply to be alive and swaying along to his favorite songs.

Loyal Sixer is the Greatest Friend

Sixer is a dairy industry survivor, rescued from certain death as a calf. He was sick and weak, but against the odds, he found the strength to live. And just look at him now! Sixer is not just a handsome face, he is a loyal friend who is absolutely dedicated to the other calves he was rescued with—their unbreakable bonds forged in the pain they experienced. Perhaps Sixer does not forget but still he lives each day of freedom with joy and love. Who wants to boop that nose?

Sylvia Gets the Zoomies

This incredible cutie got a shot at life when she fell from a transportation truck that was taking her to a factory farm. What could have been the worst event of her life turned out to be the only thing that could have saved her. And now, alongside her best friend Marge, Sylvia lives life large at Woodstock Sanctuary, where she tucks into watermelon, snuggles in the hay, and gets to run zoomies anytime she likes. Which is a lot.
